The Auto Club of America was founded in 1976 to serve the needs of motorists and travelers. Originally, ACA marketed its memberships in a retail environment through a direct sales force. Today, ACA still employs a direct sales force but a large portion of membership sales are generated from corporate clients in the insurance and banking industries, associations, the auto industry, and Internet affiliates. In addition to finding success as a provider of consumer and business services, ACA has experienced growth through the acquisitions of World Wide Motor Club, United Automobile Association and the Travel Aide and Safety Association.
